Here is another great wine from South Africa. As I keep searching and get pointers from our friends Roy and Diane who are from South Africa, I’m finding that the price of these wines are really great. Great value. I encourage you to search for these wines when you are at your local wine shop or liquor store and give them a try.
Sight
Pale color depth and a green hue.
Smell
The aromas are moderate. The development is young-fruity with aromas of citrus, melon, green apple.
Taste
The Chenin Blanc was not sweet; it was medium-bodied with lively acidity and there were no noticeable tannins. The wine was very flavorful. Tasting it I noted a silky-soft mid-palate flavors with a medium length finish.
abv: 13.5%
How much:
Appellation/Region: Napier Western Cape, South Africa.
Wine maker notes: The Chenin Blanc is made in the French traditional method. It is sources from old bush vines, fermented and matured for twelve months in oak barrels.
I rated the 2012 Jean Daneel Signature Chenin Blanc three glasses. I really enjoyed the Chenin Blanc and would definitely buy it again.
Life is too short to drink crappy wine!
