2014 “Crush” has officially started. We were scheduled for the next Cellarpass Live TV episode when I received and email from Sarah explaining that the winemaker who was going to participate in the Live show had to cancel. They had fresh fruit coming into the winery and that means “all hands on deck”. They had to prepare the fruit (de stem and lightly crush) and get it ready to start fermenting. It’s an exciting, but very busy time of the year for wine makers and their workers in the industry. This is when they get to use their skills and start the wine making process. I look forward to the day when I will be in wine country helping and making great wines.
Since we had to cancel the Cellar Pass Live event I had time to evaluate three wines from Hall and Walt wines.
Sight
Medium color depth and a nice ruby hue.
Smell
The Pinot was very aromatic, young-fruity and slight earthy. I noted cranberry, raspberry, cherry, and spice.
Taste
This wine was dry and full-bodied; and the acidity was well-balanced. The tannins were soft and I noted mid-palate firm flavors with a long velvet finish.

Region/Appellation: Sonoma, Anderson Valley.
I rated the 2012 WALT “The Corners” Anderson Valley Pinot Noir four glasses. The Pinot was made very well and it was a perfect match with our dinner. With every sip the Pinot Noir “just” got better!
Life is too short to drink crappy wine!
