Chris and I have been preparing to put our house on the market in March 2015. Since we are downsizing most of our furniture and other items in our finished basement are going. It was pretty easy getting rid of the bar lights and hangings as our boys took the items that are now on display in Nicks garage. The leather furniture went to some other friends and one of the items was our old Foosball table. We were hoping Nick and Bri would take it, but their house is too small. Their garage is full with cars and other toys and we tried selling it on Craigslist. After a couple of weeks texting with a guy who never showed up, we decided to hold off a while.
During a visit with some friends who we had not seen in a while, we had some fun on the table and as the night was ending Chris mentioned that it was available if they wanted it and that it was theirs free. They took us up on the offer and picked up the table the following week. As a thank you, Chris and I were given a bottle of a 2012 Sueno Profundo Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. A great trade from our perspective!
Deep color depth with a purple hue.
Moderate young-fruity with aromas of toast, cocoa, dark fruit, oak.
Dry, full-bodied with balanced acidity. Medium soft tannins. Rich dark mid-palate flavors with a long lingering finish.
How much: It was a gift.
Region/appellation: Napa Valley
I really enjoyed the Cabernet. Wanting to learn more I started searching the Internet for the wine, but couldn’t find the website. I have discovered the winemaker is Ry Richards who is or was the assistant winemaker at Chappellet. The wine is great, I wish he had a website for people like myself to order more. Heck, I would like to meet Ry the next time I am in Napa Valley and will have to ask some of my Napa wine friends if they know him. I wonder if Ry has any other projects in the works?
One last thing. What does Sueno Profundo mean? “Deep sleep”. I guess after drinking this wine you will sleep well.
I rated the 2012 Sueno Profundo Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon four glasses.
Life is too short to drink crappy wine. Expand your palate and keep try.
