2010 Pine Ridge Napa Cabernet Sauvignon

4smaller

Well Spring is (almost) here.  Technically it was Wednesday of this week, but if you live in the Midwest (Minnesota), today feels like a January day! It’s in the mid twenties with a strong west wind.  With the windchill feels like zero degrees outside and on Monday we woke to an -11 degree below zero chill.  I am so thankful we have a weekend get away in Austin Texas Friday!  I generally do not complain about the weather too much, but this winter just SUCKS and even life timers here are whining!  As I finish writing this BLOG it is the first day of Spring.  The wind is blowing and I woke up to a temperature of 4° Fahrenheit.

We recently received our Pine Ridge Winery wine club shipment and when I opened the box there was a bottle of 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.  The Napa Cab is Chris’ favorite at Pine Ridge.  I decided to keep the bottle out and we would drink it in a few days after it settled from the shipment.

IMG_0903Chris was preparing our dinner and wanted to have a glass of wine to decompress from the day.  Since the Napa Cab is one of her favorites I decided it was time to pull the cork and enjoy a glass with her!

Sight
Deep color depth and a nice deep garnet hue.

Smell
The Pine Ridge Cab was very aromatic and smelled young.  There was a hint of smoke, vanilla, and deep dark fruit.

Taste
This Cab was not dry like most and it was full bodied with perfect acidity.  The tannins were medium and soft.  As we tasted the Napa Cab we noted a jammy start with a nice velvet soft finish.  Some of the flavors were cocoa, cherry and raspberry.  The finish was long and pleasant.

abv: 14.5%

How much?  $54.00.  If you are a wine club member you do get a discount.

We rated the 2010 Pine Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon four glasses.  The Napa Cab is very food friendly and I could see myself just drinking it on it’s own, even without food.

In Vino Veritas!
