2005 Sbragia Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon

We recently hosted Chris’ company Christmas~Holiday Party.  For the first time in a few years we decided to take the team members and their significant other to a nice restaurant rather than do something less casual.  We decided to take them to a nice Italian restaurant in Maple Grove.

The dinner menu was planned a few weeks in advance and was scheduled for 7:30pm.  She gave her staff time to get home from work and get ready so that they could arrive on time.  We planned on getting there around 6:30pm just to make sure everything was setup correctly.

As we were waiting to leave for the dinner I wanted to have a glass of wine to “decompress” from the week.  I wanted to drink a wine that I had not had in some time.  As I was wandering through my cellar I came across a bottle of 2005 Sbragia Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon.  The wine came from Rancho Del Oso residing on Howell Mountain and Howell Mountain produces a pretty good Cab!

Here are my tasting notes

Sight
The color depth of the Cab was deep with a nice dark Garnet Hue.

Smell
The Howell Mountain Cabernet was very aromatic and the development was slightly middle aged.  I love older wines!  Some of the aromas were Vanilla, Oak, Blueberry, ripe dark fruit.

Taste
The tannins were medium (slightly dry), full bodied and the acidity was excellent.  My mouth salivated with every sip!  This wine was very flavorful and some of the notes were Caramel, Oak, slight spice.  The finish was long.

ABV: 14.5%

Chris enjoyed the Rancho Del Oso Cabernet too!  We both rated the 2005 Sbragia Cabernet Sauvignon four glasses.

In Vino Veritas!
