There are times when you are looking forward to a glass of wine at the end of a busy hectic work day. I had one of those days and I wanted something different. I decided to try my luck at a bottle of Zinfandel. I was under whelmed this day.
Sight
Medium color depth and a purple/garnet hue.
Smell
Moderate to aromatic notes of dark fruit, spice, sweet and slight alcohol.
Taste
Dry, medium-bodied with balanced acidity. Slight astringent mid-palate with a long finish. It felt over oaked.
abv: 14.9%
Appellation/ Region: Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma from the Ramazzotti Vineyard.
How much: $42.00
I rated the 2011 Thumbprint Cellars Zinfandel. I tried the wine over a few days hoping it would soften. Unfortunately it did not.
Life is too short to drink crappy wine! Expand your palate and keep trying.
