Chris and I hosted dinner at our house with another couple. Chris prepared the food and we asked our friends to bring a bottle to share. They brought a bottle of 2010 Shug Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. More recently, Pinot Noirs hasn’t been on Chris’s favorite list and she’s preferred more of a jammy flavored Pinot Noir. Without even trying the wine she decided to pass, but I was eager to try it.
Sight
Pale color depth and a ruby hue.
Smell
The Pinot Noir was very aromatic. Its development was young-fruity with aromas of ripe raspberry, strawberry, spice, and slight caramel.
Taste
Dry, medium-bodied and the acidity was good and there were no noticeable tannins. It had mid-palate flavors with a slight bitter finish. Even though the wine was slightly bitter it was pretty flavorful.
abv: 13.5%
How much: On-line it was $24 per bottle average.
I rated the 2010 Shug Pinot Noir two glasses.
Life is too short to drink crappy wine! Expand your palate and keep trying.
