2013 Ma(i)sonry Chardonnay

4g

When I am at private tastings or in a tasting room, I always see what wines they have that are not poured that day.  I also look and see what wines are for sale.  So how do I go about trying what is not poured?  All you do is ask.  I usually tell the tasting room person I am willing to purchase a certain bottle if they are willing to let me try it.  I would say nine times out of ten they will pull the cork and let you try it.  Most times I do purchase the wine.  Remember the goal for the tasting room is to sell wine.  If you cannot try the wine you cannot buy it.

The 2013 Ma(i)sonry Chardonnay was a perfect case for asking if we could try a wine.  We were at a private tasting and we were talking about the wines.  I was told the winemaker made a chardonnay from Sonoma Mountain.  That was all I needed to hear.  I asked if they had a bottle to try.  Fortunately there was a bottled cooled.  We tried the chardonnay and I loved it.  I bought two bottles and a few others that day.

I rated the 2013 Ma(i)sonry Scopus Vineyard Chardonnay four glasses.  You should always ask the tasting room to try something off of the menu.  If they do, you better be prepared to buy it if you like it.

Life is too short to drink crappy wine.  Expand your palate and keep trying.
