2013 Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau

2g

Every year on the third Thursday in November a wine called Beaujolais Nouveau is released.  Beaujolais Nouveau is a light red wine that is harvested and released during the same year, and it is generally only good for a few months a year.  If you want to learn more I released a blog on  Beaujolais Nouveau.

I ran to my local liquor store and picked up a bottle to try.  Here are my tasting notes.

BJ3

Sight
Bright purple hue with a medium color depth

BJ2

Smell
The aromas were just moderate.  I used a Burgundy style (wide mouth) glass to accumulate the aromas and the development was young with bright red fruity notes.

Taste
This wine was not dry.  No surprise since the wine did not touch any oak, seeds or stems from fermentation.  The acidity was good and the flavors were medium.  I could taste slight sweet. but it is a different taste if you are not used to this style of wine.  I would bet that if you are a big and bold red fan, this will not be your favorite.

abv: 12%

How much:  $10 from the local liquor store.

I rated the 2013 Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau two glasses.  I’m sure the higher end Beaujolais Nouveau would be better.
