2012 Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon

4g

We learned yesterday that the Joseph Phelps passed away.  Our hearts and prayers go out to his family.  I tip my glass of Insignia to you!

I welcome spring.  I love seeing the snow melt, warming temperatures and our wine club shipments.  Due to the cold winter, many club shipments were held a month.  That is a good idea.  We have had wine delivered that have frozen and pushed the cork out. Moments after the delivery guy leaves the cardboard box starts turning red.  It’s not a good feeling as you rush to move the box to the closest sink avoiding red wine stains in your carpet.

The first Joseph Phelps club shipment this year are three bottles of 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon.

We decided to enjoy the Cabernet Sauvignon with a Porterhouse steak in cast-iron.

The food and wine paired great.  The wine is easy to drink now, (we drank the whole bottle) or you can hold it for 5 plus years easily. The 2012 vintage was really good in Napa.  I suspect the wine will age gracefully under ideal cellar conditions for many years.

I rated the  2012 Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon four glasses.

Life is too short to drink crappy wine.  Expand your palate and keep trying.
