2011 Robert Mondavi Oakville District Cabernet Sauvignon

4g

We are becoming really good friends with Nick’s future mother and father-in-law.  We had them over last Easter to celebrate our daughter Michelle’s and Chad’s (future father-in-law) birthday.  I had opened various white wines that day.  Neither Chad or Vonnie had much experience with wine.  It was fun to see how their eyes widened as they tried various wines.

They had never heard how you have to give eye contact to the person you are cheering or you will have many years bad sex. We still joke and fun every time we do this….

For my father’s day gift, my boys bought tickets to the Minnesota Twins game.  Unfortunately when they day arrived, Andrew could not make it.  So, we invited Chad and Vonnie.  We enjoyed the game and after invited Chad and Vonnie over for burgers and wine. On the way over they stopped at the local bottle shop and bought this wine as a gift.

Moderate young-fruity aromas of dark fruit, black cherry, cocoa, dark chocolate and spice.

Taste
Dry, full-bodied with lively acid.  Medium but soft tannins.  Rich savory mouthfeel with a silky finish.

Wine composition: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, 2% Merlot, & 2% Malbec.

I rated the 2011 Robert Mondavi Oakville District Cabernet Sauvignon four glasses.  We have really enjoyed watching Chad and Vonnie dry different wines.  They mostly like whites, I do see a red a-ha moment in the future.

Life is too short to drink crappy wine.  Expand your palate and keep trying.
