2011 Caymus Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon

4g

When Chris hosted my 50th birthday last November, the invitation stated that there was to be no gifts.  Of course a number of my friends ignored her message and brought gifts anyways, which I did appreciate.  For me, it was more important to share this major milestone in life with my friends and family.  The night was really a great time and I was able see a few old friends.

One of the gifts that I received was a very nice bottle of 2011 Caymus Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon.  This generous gift came from someone who not only is my friend, but who happens to also be my customer.

The Cabernet was deep and had a purple hue.

Smell
The Caymus was very aromatic and young-fruity.  I could smell dark ripe fruit, oak, spice, and blueberry jam.

Taste
This wine was slightly dry, full-bodied, and the acidity was lively.  My mouth watered with every sip and the tannins were medium and soft.  There were layered mid-palate flavors with a soft silky finish.

Appellation/Region:  Napa Valley

abv: 14.8%

How much:  (I greatly appreciated this generous gift.)  On-line $57 – $64 per bottle.  Thank you Preston!

I rated the 2011 Caymus Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon four glasses.  I am fortunate that my friends have great taste!

Life is too short to drink crappy wine!
