2011 Beau Vigne Romeo Cabernet Sauvignon

4g

Last year Chris and I hosted a wine dinner at our house with Beau Vigne (pronounced Bo-Veenya).  We had the opportunity to taste most of their wines and we bought many bottles prior to this event.  If you want to read about the hosted wine dinner click here.  We also had the opportunity to visit the Stags Ridge Vineyard and Ranch that is located on the Eastern edge of Napa, in the Atlas Peak appellation at the very top of Soda Canyon Road overlooking Pritchard Gap, Haystack, and Stagecoach Vineyards.   The views are amazing.  I would recommend you stop by the tasting room in Yountville and tell them Bill sent you.

We had some friends over recently that we had not seen for a while.  Chris was making home-made Italian red sauce and Manicotti. I love garlic and she starts the base of her sauce with lots of fresh garlic poaching in quality olive oil and the smells in the house were amazing.  With good food you must have good wine.  My belief is that “Life is too short to eat bad food and drink crappy wine”.  I think it’s a good philosophy in life and if the wine is bad I would prefer to drink water.

With Chris’ excellent meal I chose the 2011 Beau Vigne Romeo Cabernet Sauvignon.

Sight
Deep color depth and a nice dark garnet purple hue.

Smell
The Romeo was very aromatic, young and fruity.  I could smell dark fruit, spice, oak, cocoa, and toast.

Taste
The Romeo was slightly dry.  It was full-bodied and the acidity was balanced.  The tannins were medium plus and was astringent. The Romeo had a silky start with a mid-palate finish.  The wine overall was balanced with complex layers of fruit flavors.

abv: 14.9%

Blend: 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petite Verdot.

The wine should age for twenty years if cellered correctly.

How much: $60

I rated the 2011 Beau Vigne Romeo Cabernet Sauvignon four glasses.  Now its time to try Romeos companion Juliet.

In Vino Veritas!
