We have friends who are going to Italy on a cruise June 2016.  Chris and I love Italy and have decided we will join them.  My favorite parts of Italy was Tuscany, and Chica Terre.  Both are on the northern west coast.  The cruise is part of the Food and Wine group.  For more details click here.

The Sangiovese grape is a red Italian wine grape variety that derives its name from the Latin sanguis Jovis, “the blood of Jove”. Jove (Jupiter) is the ancient Greek King of the Gods and the God of sky and thunder in myth.

Sight
Medium color depth with a ruby hue.

IMG_1907

Smell
Moderate, young-fruity with aromas of cherry, plumb.

Taste
Dry, medium to full-bodied with slightly tart acidity.  The tannins were soft.   Slightly tart mid-palate with a dry long finish.

I would pair this wine with food such as a risotto or pan-fried vegetables.

abv: 14.5%

How much: $34.99 from Wine Chateau.

Region/Appellation: Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG

Composition:  I think it is 80% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot e 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The Chianti Classico Riserva Dulcale Oro is a wonderful wine.  Personally I like Italian wines and will drink them without food. Chris on the other hand prefers Italian wines paired with food.

I rated the 2010 Ruffino Chianti Classico Riserva Dulcale Oro three glasses.  I would buy the wine and it should hold in your cellar five plus years.

Life is too short to drink crappy wine.  Expand your palate and keep trying.
