2009 Williams Selyem Central Coast Pinot Noir

3g

Chris mentioned that she thinks that I have been on a Pinot Noir kick lately.   It is true, especially when we have gone out for dinner at places that do not have a really good wine list.  I have found I can find a decent glass of Pinot Noir vs. a Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot as I do feel a Pinot Noir is a more food friendly varietal than any other reds.  If you are eating red meat I typically recommend a Cabernet Sauvignon but feel that a Pinot Noir is a safe choice for most other foods.

The kids had been over on this Sunday and our oldest son Nick is a Pinot Noir fan so I thought, why not have a bottle with dinner?  Dinner consisted of chicken tenders, salad, and baked potatoes.  The wine should pair just fine with the meal.

Sight
The Pinot’s color depth was medium and the hue was ruby.

Smell
It was actually pretty aromatic and young-fruity.  I noted raspberry, rhubarb, caramel, and spice.

Taste
The Pinot was not dry and it was medium-bodied.  The initial tastes were slightly tart while I noticed slight tannins in the mid-palate with a soft finish.  It was very flavorful and very food friendly with a finish that was medium in length.

ABV: 14.1%

How much: $34.00

I rated the 2009 Williams Selyem Central Coast Pinot Noir three glasses.
