2008 Starmont Cabernet Sauvignon

Happy New Year!

Well this is the first blog I have written in 2014.  I hope 2013 was a great year and 2014 even better.

We spent the night a friends because drinking and driving is not a good idea.  We arrived early afternoon and the girls started preparing snacks.  Once the snacks were ready it was time to drink wine.  We started the day with a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from Starmont.

I was not familiar with this label so I did some searching and found out the label is part of Merryvale and produced at the Starmont winery.  The Starmont winery is a state-of-the-art facility making food friendly and food-driven wines.

Sight
Medium color depth and purple hue.  The wine was clear.

Smell
The aromas in the glass were moderate and smelled young and fruity.  We could smell plum, dark fruit and slight coffee notes.

Taste
The Starmont Cabernet was not dry.  It was medium-bodied and the acidity was good.  The tannins were medium and soft.  The Cabernet had a nice silky soft finish.  The mouth feel was nice and the slight tannins were felt in my mid-palate.  the finish was medium in length.

abv: 14.5%

How much?  Dave did not recall.  Searching the internet it is around $25 per bottle.

I rated the 2008 Starmont Cabernet Sauvignon three glasses.  The wine is very good and the price is right.  I would drink it again.

In Vino Veritas!
