2001 Heitz Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon

3g

If you have a Costco with a liquor store selling wine near you, it may be worth the membership!  One can find some real treasures if you know what you are looking for.  Even though my cellar is full, I always make an attempt to check out the wines when we are at Costco.  A few years back I came across a bottle of 2001 Heitz Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon.  The price was right so I bought the bottle and put it in my cooler for a future date.

Another thing I wanted to mention was Heitz was one of the tasting rooms I visited during our first visit to Napa.

Sight
Deep color depth and a purple hue.

Smell
The aroma was moderate and slightly middle-aged.  I could smell plum, dark fruit, black licorice, and oak.

Taste
This Cabernet was not dry.  It was medium-bodied with lively acids and the tannins were slowing down and were soft.  Tasting the wine I had rich mid-palate flavors and a long finish.

ABV: 14.5%

How much: $40.oo from our local Costco.

Region/Appellation:   Napa Valley

I rated the 2001 Heitz Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon three glasses.

Life is too short to drink crappy wine!
